Heineken® launched its global K2 bottle in Nigeria
at a spectacular World Premiere event held in the
Federal Palace Hotel and Casino in Lagos. In line with
its sponsorship of the latest lames Bond movie, Skyfall,
the event also premiered the film in Nigeria, and
the brand staged a high-speed boat chase between
mercenaries and naval security marshals to reclaim a
Heineken® case. Once retrieved, the case was handed
over to Jacqueline van Faassen, Senior Brand Manager
Heineken®in Nigeria. The new world-class Heineken®
bottle, was then revealed to the audience by Nigerian
Breweries' Managing Director/CEO, Nico Vervelde, and
Marketing Director, Walter Drenth.
Asia Pacific Breweries (APB) in Singapore has
donated S$1 million to The National Kidney
Foundation (NKF). As Singapore's largest dialysis
provider, NKF supports 90% of the nation's
haemodialysis patients, and APB's donation will
help provide approximately 7,800 haemodialysis
sessions to 50 kidney patients. HEINEKEN's
CEO, Jean-Franqois van Boxmeer, says: "We are
particularly proud to support the work of the
National Kidney Foundation in Singapore. This
is an important part of giving back to society,
which is something that is ingrained in the DNA
of our Company."
In April 2012, HEINEKEN launched www.
IdeasBrewery.com, an open-innovation
platform to connect with innovators around
the world and generate new thinking. In
the second challenge this year, Albert
Soler Mas (Spain) was selected
from a group of six finalists for his
'Flavours of the World Skimmer'. His
idea enhances the draught beer
experience by offering variety and adding
flavour to the foam. The jury chose Albert's
idea because of its simplicity and its potential
for global activation with local adaptation. The
runners up were 'Heinekenergy', a concept that
bridges the gap between draught beer and
spirit mixers, by Jesse Wilson (UK), and 'The
Augmented Reality Experience' by Edwin Froma
(the Netherlands).
