This is the hotspot in Berlin opened only a few
months ago, the Lola Lounge is already one of the
most popular restaurants in town. With a menu that
changes every three weeks, this lounge is housed in
a refined, brick cellar whose décor does justice to
its historic heritage. "Leaving the original
architecture intact is typical of lots of trend-setting
hospitality outlets in recent years," says Heineken
interior designer Ferry Tabeling. But make no
mistake, this isn't some dark grotto: Lola is bathed
in rich white and orange light, radiating from glass
strips running along the stone walls. Most ingenious
of all are the adjustable linen walls, which can be
removed to create extra floor-space in the centre of
the restaurant—perfect for a private party. And
Heineken is always available on tap using the now
famous David draught beer system.
