Nestled in Berlin's Mitte district (compared by some to New
York City's Soho), Kuchi is a genuine sushi heaven. Catering to an
eclectic mix of gallery owners, actors and advertising gurus, this
trendy restaurant and bar is decorated with loads of urban kitsch
from Japan, vaguely reminiscent of films like Kill Bill, Lost in
Translation and Memoirs of a Geisha. Heineken interior designer
Ferry labeling notes that despite the strong prevalence of wood
and green concrete, the atmosphere is more cult-hip than over-
O
styled. "And that's a good thing, because over-styling is simply a
sign of a lack of imagination and character". Campy ornaments
like oblong lamps plastered with snapshots of exotic Asia give
Kuchi an intimate allure. Downstairs there's a special kung-fu
room complete with dojo mat, samurai swords and a golden
statue of Buddha encircled with lotuses. For hip and original
dining at Kuchi, a reservation is always a must.
This uniquely designed hotel tends to attract
a trend-setting crowd of young adults. No
aristocratic grandeur here, but rather, a modern
look with a friendly atmosphere. Tip: Order a
Fleineken Beer A1 (otherwise known as a Paco).
Ku' Damm 101 is the only place you can get them
in all of Berlin very exclusive! A typical
example of colour-coded mood management, or
chromotherapy, the lighting in the hotel lobby
constantly changes hues depending on the time
of day. And every Thursday spectacular
international DJ club nights fill the lobby of this
venue—no doubt one of the very latest in
multifunctional interior design.
