FUTURE GROWTH THROUGH ACQUISITIONS ...building the platform for future growth... Sobol Fürstenbergische HEINEKEN ACQUIRES IN RUSSIA AND GERMANY THE WORLD OF HEINEKEN As part of the company's strategy, Heineken wants to build a platform for future growth in both mature and developing markets. Heineken wants to pursue this not only through balanced organic growth, but also through acquisitions and partnerships. At the beginning of October 2004, Heineken announced its acquisition of the Sobol brewery in Russia and a few days later yet another acquisition: Fürstlich Fürstenbergische Brauerei in Germany. Two examples of acquisitions in two important markets that are consistent with this strategy and that will contribute to building the platform for future growth. By acquiring the Sobol Beer Brewery, Heineken has reinforced its strategic position in Russia. With Heineken St Petersburg brewery growing by 15% to 20% per annum, the acquisition will provide immediate additional production capacity for the Russian national brands Bochkarev and Ohota. The acquired brewery is a brand new company: it was newly con structed in August 2003 and has in the meantime achieved a total volume of 0.2 million hectolitres. The two brands currently brewed include Sobol and Zhigulevskoye. Jean Francois van Boxmeer, Member of the Executive Board of Heineken N.V., commented: "This acquisition fits perfectly in our growth strategy for Russia following our recent acquisition of the Shikhan and the Volga Breweries. It reinforces our number three position and further strengthens our distribution and sales platform in this fast growing beer market." X In Germany, Heineken - through the joint venture Brau Holding International AG - acquired Fürstlich Fürstenbergische Brauerei. npaSu/wme nu6o I1MBO AOJ1MHO BblTb
