Thirst Asia Final
fT
THE WORLD OF HEINEKEN
Thirst is a truly global event but in the fall of 2004 Asia in
particular was into Thirst in a big way. For the first time ever the
Asia regional competition was held. Nineteen Found@Thirst
winners from the region battled it out for the title of F@T Asia
Winner and were given the opportunity to play alongside
internationally renowned DJ Pete Tong. The six semi-finals were
held in five countries: Thailand, Malaysia, Taiwan, Singapore and
Vietnam. The winners competed with each other in the grand final
in the world renowned Zouk Club in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in
front of an industry panel consisting of international DJs Pete Tong,
Miss Motif and Danielle Davoli, who also performed that evening.
For the winner of F@T Asia there was more than just the honour.
He or she not only played alongside Pete Tong and but was also
invited to DJ in the club capital of the world - Ibiza- in 2005.
The winner also received a complete set of professional equipment.
MTV Asia featured highlights of the Asian regional contest in their
programme Urban Beats. The broadcast included interviews,
competitions and behind the scenes footage.
Heineken decided to launch the regional Thirst competition in Asia
because of the high quality of talent that was uncovered in the
local events. DJ Small from Singapore is one example. He is now
considered to be a top 10 DJ in Asia and regularly plays with the
big international names. New Zealand's Thirst winner Matt Harris
toured Australia with Thirst, just six months after beginning to DJ.
