Getting to know Charlene de Carvalho-Heineken
In November 2001, Alfred Heineken announced his intention to step down as Chairman and
Delegated Member of the Management Board of Heineken Holding. Following the death of her
father on January 3rd 2002, the family shares passed to Charlene de Carvalho-Heineken. She will
continue to hold the shares in the same tradition as her father.

later, Heineken strengthened its position by acquiring a majority stake in the sole brewery of

The Heineken University
In January 2003, the Heineken University will celebrate its fifth birthday. Launched in 1998, the
Heineken University started life with the following mission: to share, create and mobilise knowledge

Filled Bottle Inspector
In order to minimize the chance of glass particles getting into the bottle to practically zero, special
inspection equipment had to be developed. This has resulted in the development of a new machine:
the Filled Bottle Inspector (FBI). A good example that Heineken's own technology leads the way, and
the Heineken company revolves around quality.
