For the second consecutive year, Heineken
USA was the exclusive title sponsor for the
Billboard Latin Music Conference Awards,
held in Miami Beach in April 2001.
Heineken will also be the first beer to appear
as a presenting title sponsor of the Billboard
Latin Music Awards' television transmission
Telemundo. In addition to the sponsorship,
Heineken will support the programme with
on- and off-premise promotional activities.
Since August 1998, Heineken has been
involved in a joint venture with South
African Breweries (SAB): Heineken South
Africa Ltd. Targets of this joint venture
were to support the Heineken brand
through a permanent office, to increase
sales volume and to prepare for local
production of Heineken beer.
Things have gone well for Heineken South
Africa. The Heineken beer volume has
more than doubled since 1998, and future
expectations are promising. After extensive
technical preparations in 2000, local
production of Heineken beer started in
February 2001. To celebrate this happy
occasion, a reception was given on 25th
January 2001, for the SAB and Heineken
representatives. Cluster Director Africa
Middle East Mr Homé also attended this
celebratory event.
