Thirteen-part TV series
starts in year 2000
Heineken is to sponsor a
13-part documentary series
about water. The aim of the
series is to boost social
awareness of the whole
issue of water manage-
ment. 'Aware of Water* will
be officially launched in
March 2000 during the
World Water Conference that
will be held in the
Netherlands.

"The subject of water is not suffi
ciently alive amongst the general
public. Water will become the main
environmental issue in the next cen
tury and will be very high on the poli
tical agenda. Water is life. We need it
to survive, for agriculture, for hygie
ne. Water and temperature are key to
all life on earth", says Sietze Montijn,

The series of documentaries will
highlight the social, strategic, econo
mic, cultural, agricultural and health
aspects of drinking water in the 21st
century. Via the documentary series
the makers, the Dutch film produc
tion company Swynk, want to help
generate broader support within
society for finding a solution to the
