Keeping in Touch with the Dutch Heineken Presents: Ten VMCO Reps Tour Heineken's Homeland It was a trip reminiscent of 1983's Van Munching Co., Inc. fiftieth anniver sary celebration. Ten VMCO salesmen, in recognition of their outstanding con tributions of the last two years, spent a week this past October on a whirlwind tour of Hollandhome of Heineken Beer. From the massive facilities of Rotter dam Harbour to the renowned night life of Amsterdam, the VMCO crew saw a little bit of everything during their visit. Of course, a major part of the trip con sisted of tours through the Heineken Breweries, including Zoeterwoude and 's Hertogenbosch. At Zoeterwoude, the chief export brewery to the United States, the group visited the Barremolenthe windmill dedicated by Heineken to VMCO founder Leo Van Munching in 1975. Built in l66l, the Barremolen is a restored, historic windmill, located on the brewery's park-like grounds. Other trip highlights included a visit to the container port in Rotterdam, where Heineken and Amstel Light are loaded onto U.S.-bound ships, and a dinner with Alfred Heineken at the Amsterdam Brewery. John McAna, VMCO vice president, and Doug Brodman, special projects manager, accompanied the ten sales representatives on their trip. They were: Bob Bristow (a Southern California rep), Dennis Costello (Illi nois), Doug Escoe (South Carolina and Heineken is winding up its first excit ing year as a major sponsor of the popular coast-to-coast radio pro gram, Live from the Hard Rock Cafe.
