mt ml. Metropolitan Club Managers Present Heineken's Trophy At Golf Tournament The Windmill PUBLISHED BY VAN MUNCHING CO., INC., 6 West 48lh St., New York 36, N. Y. VOL. XII, No. 6 EDITOR: EDWARD W. RAMM OCTOBER, 1961 Oo Our Ofappy can'1(14: ir AT THIS TIME, we are entering the final period of our fiscal year 1961 and it looks as if most, if not all, the Heineken's sales quotas for 1961 will he made before Novem ber jOth. The year has been a most interesting, al though somewhat hectic, one for us and we have worked hard to reach our goals. We are doing business with more wholesalers than ever before which gives us a more complete coverage throughout the country. I should like to tell you a very interesting story. Our Accounting Department is presently compiling sales figures covering the last ten years to be used in the preparation of a survey in our future sales planning. It was found that during the entire fiscal year 1951, our total Heineken's sales volume for the United States was just about equal to that of our total sales during the month of September 1961 only! You know that we are not given to boasting or issuing sales figures which are misleading. When these figures were given to me, I could not help but bring same to your attentioni so that everyone can realize the phenomenal groivth of Heineken's in the United States in a period of only ten years. Recently, we have selected a Silver Trophy to be presented to the winner of The Metro politan Club Managers Golf Tournament to be held at the Glen Head Country Club in Glen Cove, Long Island later this month. A photograph of this Heineken's Trophy is re produced in this issue. We would be interested in making addi tional such trophies available for Golf Tour nament if they are of enough importance to our business to justify the expense. I am mighty proud that the Editors of the Diners' Club Magazine asked my permission to have an article written about the Heineken's success story with whom I have been so closely associated. You will find a reprint in this issue. It is hoped that every one in our large Amer ican organization will give his fullest support in the remaining time before November 30th so that we will again reach the Annual Heine ken's Sales Quotas. Thank you very much for your cooperation and support which I judge so highly. Cordially yours, The trophy shown above was awarded on behalf of Heineken's Holland Beer on October 9th to Mr. Leslie White, Manager of the Mountain Ridge Country Club in West Caldwell, NJ. Mr. White was the winner of the low gross Class B tournament. The presentation was made by Mr. James P. Connelly, Vice President of Van Munching Co. at a special dinner honoring the Metropolitan Club Managers Tournament, given at the Glen Head Country Club in Glen Cove, Long Island
