Similar shipments are routed through the Seaway to points as far west as Chicago. A Latin American chemist says beer —milk notwithstanding—may be the healthiest of all drinks. Hernan Perez of Bogota, Columbia, told the Inter-American Food Institute meeting here that beer provides quick caloric energy, and is rich in carbohy drates, mineral salts and vitamins. "Beer," he declared, "may be consid ered the healthiest of all beverages." "Its inclusion in the diet must be only considered beneficial in all cases— both for healthy or for ailing people." What's more, Perez said, most beer- drinkers don't get drunk. To become tipsy on beer, he said a person would have to consume about five 12-ounce bottles per hour for two hours. And it is "not normal to drink that fast," said the expert, a member of the American Society of Brewing Chemists.
