I thought our readers would he interested
in hearing of the leading position that
Heinekeris Beer enjoys throughout the
Islands of the West Indies, some of which
I visited recently on our cruise.
In Bermudawe are the undisputed
leading selling beer. In Nassau, we are
in a leading position as well, and in Ja
maica where recently a change in the dis
tribution has taken place, it won't be long
before we will be the largest selling im
ported beer on the Island. In Puerto Rico,
the Dominican Republic, Cuba and the
various smaller islands of the Caribbean,
Heineken's is very much in evidence.
Phis has not always been the case but
by consistently promoting the brand name
HEINEKEN'S and building up the large
volume of business which we enjoy in the
United States market, there has been an
ever-growing demand for Heineken's Beer
elsewhere.
We should take advantage of this ex
panding world demand with our retail
<ide at home. Not only do the U. S.
niilitary forces throughout the world buy
Heineken's in large quantities for their
foreign bases, but when U. S. tourists trav
el, not only in the Caribbean, but in many
other tourist meccas, they ask for and
get Heine ken's Beer. It has become a by
word with those who enjoy the best.
It was more than pleasing to me while
on the NIEUW AMSTERDAM to receive
so very many compliments from the pas
sengers about their preference for Heine
ken's and how wonderful it tasted, on
draught, on board the ship.
As an anecdote, Robert Q. Lewis who
was travelling with us introduced me as
((that fabulous Bert Piel"! It was all in
fun and everybody seemed to enjoy it in
cluding myself.
Back at my desk again, I am very en
couraged with the sales for the first two
months of 1958 fiscal year and I am con
fident that as we proceed throughout
1958, our sales goals will be reached and
maybe even exceeded.
