Uziet hiernaast een door de heer
Lens van Rijn, op 7 juni jl. ge
nomen foto van de Nathan-afdeling van
de in Aba in aanbouw zijnde brouwerij
van de Nigerian Brewery Ltd. Op de
foto is duidelijk zichtbaar het staalskelet
van de Nathankelder. De wanden wor
den opgebouwd uit geperforeerde beton
blokken. teneinde een behoorlijke venti
latie in het gebouw te verkrijgen.
De reeds geplaatste Nathantanks, waar
van de bodem de vorm heeft van een
conus, staan nu nog open en bloot.
Iedere Nathantank is omgeven door een
mantel, waardoor een koelvloeistof
stroomt. Het in de tank aanwezige bier
blijft hierdoor koud, terwijl de in de
Nathankelder aanwezige lucht dezelfde
temperatuur heeft als de buitenlucht.
Op de voorgrond van de foto ziet men
de spoorlijn op het fabrieksemplace-
ment.
Van de kant van Heineken staat de
montage van deze brouwerij onder lei
ding van ir. 1'. Lagaay, daarin bijgestaan
door de heren Van Elswijk (chef-machi
nist), Vink (machinist), Ekkelboom,
Kooiman en Rijkhoek (monteurs)Girod
(elektricien) cn Trum (lasser).
Hieronder drukken wij een in het Engels gestelde brief
af, welke wij ontvingen van de heer F. H. Steeneken uit
Caracas. I)e brie! spreekt voor zichzelf en wij wachten
in spanning af of er reacties komen van andere Engels
sprekende lezers van ons blad.

Dear Mr. Editor,
This letter is to convey my sincere thanks to you and
your associates, who every monthalthough some
people may say „every once in a while", I maintain every
month provide us with all the good news from home.
There is for me and many others always a topic of con
versation following the publication of one of your
numbers. To give an example, the pictures of those who
celebrated their 25 or 40 years continuous service with
the company. By seeing all those old familiar faces, one
remembers their good and sometimes not so good quali
ties and stories flow, together with pints of beer.
Further there is the column, ..personalia buitenland"
although I know some people don't agree, please continue
this feature, it does those who have worked together,
somewhere"in some hole in the wall" good to know
where the other one is sweating it out.
Now before you editorial staff are getting conceited
and start running for the front-office to ask for a raise,
I like to state one thing, your periodical has about
everything BUT ONE, and that is a column for those
among us who do not speak or write Dutch. We, as
Heineken, always claim a greater membership than United
Nations, which, by the way, is true but we do very little
to get to know them. There is a Mr. Nadaisen in
Singapore, a Sr. Lemoine in Caracas and a Mr. Brown in
New York, to name a few of those I know, who feel as
much Heineken as we do. One assured me after a few
glasses of Heineken he felt even more Heineken than
old man Heineken (I do apoligize, Sir) himself. But as
far as Vers van 't Vat is concerned they are illegitimate
children.
I do trust that you will publish this "Letter to the
Editor"so that it may reach those members of our family
to whom this is concerned and maybe they start writing
themselves and that it may lead to an International
edition of "Vers van 't Vat".
