Following two years introductory training, Mr. Drost became
Distritt Sales Manager at Rotterdam and three years later was
appointed Regional Sales Manager. In 1975 he attended a
five-month course for executive development at the Imede
Centre, Lausanne. Returning to Holland in the following year he
was appointed Managing Director of the National Brewing
Company, Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and of the St. Lucia,
Windward and Leeward Brewery Ltd. Heineken has a long
tradition in the Caribbean and Mr. Drost enjoyed living, working
and travelling there.
In the past, he told CONTACT, Heineken export had been totally
centralised in Amsterdam. Last year, however, export offices
had been opened in Singapore and Curacao to establish control
closer to these areas of activity. It is envisaged that if the right
opportunities arise, the trend will be studied to see if it may be
necessary to open other export branches.
Apart from export of Heineken, Amstel and distilled products,
Mr. Drost said, there were efforts to develop in other areas such
as shandy. These activities might possibly be extended by increa
sing existing product groups or by introducing other lines.
New Heineken Group Director - Export is Mr. J.H. Drost, who
joined the company as an Amstel trainee in 1967. He succeeds
Mr. P. Snoep who after three and a half years as Export Director
has taken up a new position as Group Director - Holland, based at
Zoeterwoude.
