A significant landmark in the history of
Project Oceania was reached on Octo
ber 17 when the Anchor Brewery at
Singapore celebrated production of one
million cartons of canned beer within
twelve months.
It was the first time that annual sales had
reached this peak since the start of the
project the export of Heineken and
Amstel beers from Singapore to all parts
of the Middle and Far East.
First conceived in 1972, Project Oceania
was undertaken, after careful research,
as a means of maintaining the compa
ny's competitive position which at the
time was endangered by the sharply ri
sing costs of freighting beer from Hol
land.

of Malayan Breweries, by Mr.
Schermers, Company Manager of the
Anchor Brewery, is closely observed by

Le 17 octobre marqua un événement
important dans l'histoire du Projet
Océanie: en effet la Brasserie Anchor de
Singapour fêta son premier million de
cartons de boltes de bière produit en
moins de 12 mois.
C'était la première fois que les ventes
annuelles atteignaient un tel chiffre de-
puis Ie début du projet qui consistait a
exporter des bières Heineken et Amstel
depuis Singapour vers le Moyen et I'Ex-
trême-Orient.
Créé en 1972, le Projet Océanie fut en
trepris, après- une étude approfondie,
pour maintenir le caractère compétitif de
la société qui a cette époque était me-
nacé par l'augmentation importante des
frais d'expédition de la bière a partir de
la Hollande.
