The promotion activities of the Hei-
neken Group vary considerably.
For instance, on the island of Ber
muda we sponsor cricket by appoint
ing a Cricketer of the Year, an award
that is made not only for the winner's
achievements on the cricket field but
is also based on his general charac
ter and behaviour.
On the photo you can see this year's
winner, Rupert Sottland, with on his
right the Governor of the island, and
on his left our Regional Export
Manager, Mr. R. van Duursen, and
the Director of the Heineken agency,
Mr. Hal Watlington.
The event was broadcast live on
both radio and television.

Heineken varient considérablement.
Dans I'ile Bermuda, par exemple,
nous avons énormément de succès
avec nos encouragements en faveur
du cricket. Par l'intermédiaire de six
responsables de classe, nous recher-
chons un jeune cricketer qui non
seulement a réalisé d'excellentes
performances sur le terrain de sport,
mais qui se conduit aussi dans le
privé de fagon exemplaire.
Sur la photo, vous voyez le vainqueur
de cette année, Rupert Sottland, a
sa droite Ie Gouverneur de I'ile et
a sa gauche, notre Directeur régional
d'exportation, M. Van Duursen et le
Directeur de I'Agence Heineken,
M. Hal Watlington.

Le constructeur de bateaux, John
Young de Charleston, a passé son
dimanche placer encore une plan-
che contre le mur de sa maison pour
y disposer les trophées qui lui ont
été offerts durant le ,,laying-up
supper" du Pentewan Sands Sailing
Club. Monsieur Young, Secrétaire
nautique du club, a gagné 7 trophées
sur les 10 des concours auxquels
il a participé. II a gagné ces trophées
avec un catamaran rafistolé, qui est
resté pendant trois ans sans soins,
prés de son lieu de travail et que
Monsieur Young a baptisé „Lady
Heineken", d'après sa boisson pré-
férée.
Boat-builder John Young of Charle
ston spent a Sunday putting an extra
shelf on the wall in his house he
needed it to be able to display the
cups that had been presented to him
at the 'laying-up supper' of the Pent
ewan Sands Sailing Club. Mr. Young,
Secretary of the Club, won 7 of the
10 cups for which he was qualified
to compete. He sails in a recondition
ed catamaran that for three years
had been left to rot near his work
shop, and that he has christened
'Lady Heineken' after his favourite
drink.
