5.2.2 Malting plants The specific heat consumption increased slightly to 2771.3 MJ per tonne malt. This increase was primarily due to the acquisition of a new but less efficient malting plant in Bulgaria. Conversely since 1997 the consumption of electricity has gradually been reduced by 6.7 percent to the current level of 112.9 kWh per tonne malt. The savings were made possible by investments in the installations and by good housekeeping. JIMMY CARTER PRESIDENT OF THE CARTER FOUNDATION '..THE WATER THAT USED TO FLOW INTO THE OCEAN, QUITE OFTEN THE SAME BIG STREAM FADES AWAY TO NOTHING BEFORE IT EVER REACHES THE OCEAN BECAUSE EVERYBODY HAS USED UP ALL THE WATER. THESE ARE CHANGES THAT WOULD HAVE TO BE UNDERSTOOD BY ALMOST EVERY HUMAN BEING.'
