m Reaping the Benefits of Local Sourcing Amstel Shows its Lite Side GLOBAL NEWS HAITI Launched on 1 August, Amstel Lite is the latest addition to South Africa's (lite) beer category. With a lower alcohol content (4% ABV) and 25% fewer calories than Amstel Lager, Amstel Lite is still a full- flavoured beer that is slow brewed to the same quality standards consumers expect of Amstel. The bottle also follows the same iconic shape as Amstel Lager and thanks to its vertical label design it has a young, playful feel. The neck is wrapped in a silver foil, conveying a sense of freshness and fun and distinguishing the exciting newcomer from the Lager option. This look is carried through to the can, which, with its clean and uncluttered design, will stand out on the shelf. Staff from Brasserie Nationale d'Haiti (BRANA), HEINEKEN's subsidiary in Haiti, were joined by US Ambassador Pamela White and government officials to celebrate this year's sorghum harvest with small-scale farmers and the Smallholders Alliance for Sorghum in Haiti (SMASH). Launched in 2012, SMASH is BRANA's five-year local sourcing programme. It is committed to reducing poverty among farmers by providing them with a market for their crops and investing in training to improve agricultural productivity. Several farmers involved in the programme have already increased their yields by 100% and their incomes by 75%. AMSTEL AMSTEL SOUTH AFRICA Edition 2 201A World of HEINEKEN
