they are interested in the concept. People
always want to try new things and once they
try this beer, they stick with it."
The beer is delivered straight from the brewery
using special trucks with cooling technology
that guarantees optimum freshness. The taste
is a key driver behind consumers ordering
draught beer. Inside the tank, a liner protects
the beer from any contact with oxygen that
could ultimately affect its freshness. Instead
of using carbon dioxide for tapping, Orion adds
air to the tank, which compresses the liner and
dispenses the beer from the chilled tank. This
means the beer maintains the same, fresh
brewery quality for a long time.
"The first feedback shows that this technology
has improved the overall attractiveness of
beer, and has increased the turnover in the
pubs where the tanks have been installed,"
says Martin Varga. "A lot of people do not
like their beer to have excessive amounts
of carbon dioxide. They stir it to get rid of
bubbles," explains Martin Smiesko. "With the
Orion system, however, the beer keeps its
natural sparkle, so it is tastier and gives greater
enjoyment for the consumers."
Ultimate Convenience
The storage capacity dramatically reduces the
time spent handling 50 litre kegs. When a tank
is empty, the system helps to switch to the
next full tank with a simple selection on the
touch screen. "Our day-to-day duties are now
much simpler," Norbert Strycek, owner of the
Keltic pub in Komarno, states. "We do not have
to physically handle heavy and cumbersome
kegs anymore. We now have a large 500-litre
