Panama
At the start of 2011, brewery Cervecerias
Baru-Panama in Panama City celebrated the
opening of a new production line. In direct
response to growing consumer demand for
the company's key brands such as Panama,
Soberana and Heineken®, the new line
doubles the brewery's capacity. A highly
qualified team of national and international
engineers and architects worked together
with staff from the plant to ensure the project
was completed to time, and with no impact
on production. In fact, while all building and
construction projects were underway, the
brewery delivered 17% growth in sales and 2%
growth in market share!
General Manager, Hélène Weesie, adds,
"Through this expansion, Heineken has
demonstrated its commitment to investment
in Panama, which contributes to the country's
economic growth, improves the production
capacity of Panamanian industry and provides
a continued commitment to providing
customers and consumers with beers of
outstanding quality."
Finland
Finnish city Turku is this year's
European Capital of Culture.
As one of just three corporate
sponsors, Heineken's Finnish
subsidiary, Hartwall, will be
promoting a beer culture, offering
more variety and promoting a
better quality drinking experience.
Hartwall's historically Turku-
based Aura beer brand is the
official Capital of Culture beer,
and to mark the occasion the
Hartwall team has developed a
special jubilee beer, Juhla Aura,
together with brewery restaurant,
Koulu. During the year, a number
of restaurants in Turku will be
offered staff training to provide
the perfect drinking experience,
serving Aura beer at the right
temperature, in the right kind
of glass, and crowned with the
perfect foam.
