At the Beer Serves Europe event in October, The Brewers of Europe, representing around 4,000
brewers, sent a joint message to EU legislators and national governments. A high-level panel
discussion, which included two senior Heineken executives, delivered the clear but friendly message:
Hefty beer taxes are unfair, jeopardise European recovery and put thousands of jobs at risk.
The European brewing sector which employs
