The 2010 Fleineken Prizes for Arts and Sciences will be presented on 23 September at the
Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam. Presented in 2008 by the Dutch Crown Prince
Willem-Alexander, prizes are awarded every other year to five internationally acclaimed
scientists and one highly talented Dutch artist. The scientific prizes cover the fields of history,
medicine, environmental and cognitive science, as well as biochemistry and biophysics.
To give talent extra encouragement, as from this year, five young scientists will receive
the Fleineken Young Scientists Award. These are presented for their outstanding scientific
or scholarly work at a Dutch research centre, which sets an example for other young
researchers. The scientists are all active in the same fields of science as the laureates of
the Dr FI.P. Fleineken and the Dr A.FH. Fleineken Prizes.

Promising an all-day 'total festival feeling', Romania's Peninsula Festival will keep
concert-going campers entertained with extreme sports, film screenings, stand-up
comedy and much more, ahead of its evening concerts.
Organisers expect between 60,000 and 80,000 visitors to attend the eighth annual
summer festival on the shores of the Mures river. Headliners include Grammy Award-
winning metal band Korn, playing for the first time in Romania, along with other big
names such as Europe, Gorillaz Sound System, The Rasmus, Omega, Ska-P, Dub Fx, and
Tricky.
