In April of this year, the Heineken 2007 Sustainability Report was
published, outlining the rationale for and the progress on our social
and sustainability agenda.
The report was the third overall and the second to be structured
around the seven key areas on which we focus our sustainability
efforts and our targets:
1. Energy:
By 2010 reduce specific energy consumption by 15% versus 2002
and substantially reduce C02 emission
2. Water:
By 2010 reduce water consumption to 4.6hhl for every hi of beer
brewed and reduce waste-water discharge
3. Safety:
reduce accident frequency and introduce new safety standards
4. Agriculture:
ensure that all raw materials are free of any genetically modified
ingredients
5. Supply chain responsibility:
ensure all suppliers are compliant with our Supplier Code
6. Responsible beer consumption:
Expand our Enjoy Heineken Responsibly programme and achieve
full compliance with our global internal alcohol education and
training programme
7. Impact on developing markets:
maintain/improve our role in developing markets in terms of health
care, economic impact and business ethics.
