THE WORLD OF HEINEKEN
Italy rocked to British pop sensation Depeche Mode and international
superband Metallica as they headlined the ninth edition of the Heineken
Jammin' Festival on 15 and 17 June at the Enzo e Dino Ferrari racing circuit
in Imola, Italy.
The headliners alone made the Fleineken Jammin' Festival one of the
most popular and prestigious music festivals of the Italian summer. Year
after year, the popularity of Jammin' continues to grow, thanks largely to
the Green Village concept featuring unique sideline activities.
Fleineken (a major sponsor of the Royal Netherlands Football
Association (KNVB)), scored again at this year's World Cup by
coming up with an ingenious successor to the famous Fleineken
Loudspeaker Flat for use by the Dutch football supporters at this
year's World Cup. Designed to look like a German hunter's cap,
this Fleineken gadget can be changed into a megaphone at the
drop of... well, a hat. Football fans were also able
to collect a series of exclusive victory badges
from each participating country. Every time The
Netherlands won a match, fans could fasten the
corresponding national pins to their hats as a
kind of token or trophy. While the team was
eliminated in the quarter finals, the hats
are still being worn by fans.
Fleineken first introduced its famous
Loudspeaker Hat during the European
Cup Championships in Portugal in
2004. The ultimate supporter's
accessory, the Loudspeaker
quickly became a must-have
item for Dutch football
fans and Heineken
collectors alike
Since Heineken began brewing beer more than 140 years ago,
the brand logo has undergone considerable changes. It was
originally known as "HEINEKEN'S BEER" and written in capital letters.
But in 1952, Alfred Heineken decided to undo the caps lock, and
drop the apostrophe "s." Since then, the world's most international
premium beer has been known simply as "Heineken."
Incidentally, it was also Alfred Heineken who introduced the now
world-famous smiling "e"s with all three cheerfully tilting backward.
