One year after the creation of Brau Union AG - as a result of the
joint venture between Heineken and Schörghuber Corporate
Group - Brau Union Österreich AG launched a wide-ranging
promotional campaign for Heineken beer. TV spots, the
Heineken Flagship bar and the 'Green Islands' are all aimed at
boosting the popularity of the number one international premium
beer brand amongst Austrian consumers.
Saturday afternoon: a supermarket in downtown Vienna. A young
man is strolling through the aisles. Suddenly, a green stand rises
up in front of him, flashing with the Heineken green and silver label.
"May I offer you a glass of cold Heineken?" asks a young woman
in green clothes. You could have experienced this 'phenomenon'
anywhere in Austria in the summer of 2004. Called the 'Heineken
Green Island', it is just one element in the Heineken promotional
campaign to make Austrian consumers familiar with the inter
national premium brand. In November the Heineken Green Island
will again be touring the whole of Austria with the next Heineken
promotional highlight: The Heineken Blockbuster Tour, featuring
the international blockbusters of autumn 2004.
Since the middle of 2004 an international Heineken commercial
(downloadable via www.heineken.com) has been broadcast on
various Austrian TV channels. This internationally acclaimed TV
spot is targeted at young adults. Simultaneously, the Heineken
Flagship bar has been touring through Austria. Seven metres long
and with an integrated presentation of Heineken bottles nestling
on crushed ice, the Flagship bar is an eye-catcher at every event.
On 9 October Austria also enjoyed the spectacular premiere of the
Heineken Green Room. International house music stars such as
Sonique, Bob Sinclair and DJ Pippi created an exciting atmosphere
in one of Vienna's hottest locations. A video-jockey team
submerged the Viennese gasometer in Heineken green and fed
images of the guests into a blue box and onto giant screens,
freshly chilled Heineken just kept on flowing at the Flagship bar,
with its giant tubs of crushed ice.
