with the world's topmost DJs. Initially it was Paul Oakenfold, the
man who is considered have started the dance scene in the UK.
For the 2004 season Paul was joined by other renowned names
such as Pete Tong, Danielle Davoli, Ferry Corsten, DJ Tiësto (who
performed at the opening ceremony of the 2004 Olympic Games
in Athens) and Smokin' Jo.
In the first tour that started in 2002 and concluded in 2003, more
than 100,000 clubbers in 23 different countries visited a Thirst
event. And the numbers and enthusiasm grew year after year.
DJ Tiësto, who joined Thirst in 2004, is thrilled by the event:
"Thirst is a great opportunity to reach audiences on a global level
by giving them a party they've never experienced before."
Thirst is much more than a big event with performances by
world-class DJs. Thirst is about mixing the biggest names in dance
music with fresh ingredients; it's about discovering the best local
talent. In close cooperation with local promoters, media, venues
and DJs, Fleineken Music uncovers fresh DJ talent during
Found@Thirst. During regional heats the best four to six DJs are
chosen to contest the final where they will be judged by the main
