people are

How do you think the integration process of
Brau Union and Heineken is developing so far?
Being so busy, can you still enjoy a family life?

working in that area. We had to build a whole new organisation
from scratch. It is such a satisfying feeling when helping to
create a complete new department and investing in the
development of people. I have always considered it as our
responsibility to believe in our people and develop their skills.
I realise one thing: people are the greatest success factor in
any company.
The official integration period was completed in January this
year, and the issues still pending are now being transferred to
the individual functions and countries. We have achieved major
milestones, and the new organisation is working effectively.
But, of course, nothing is complete. In the day-to-day business
we still need to improve and optimise our teamwork. Considerin
the change processes involved in such mergers can take years,
I think we have done a great job so far.
I've always been really close with my family and see them as a
source of strength. I have a grown-up son and daughter and one
grandchild. In general, I am a forward-looking person, with one
exception: when swapping memories with friends about common
sports achievements in the good old days. I am really looking
forward to all new challenges as an Executive Board Member,
especially learning Dutch. But I sincerely think it comes in handy
when being in Amsterdam.
