Ingenious
WIN-WIN-WIN SITUATION
comments from customers. "We are seeing beer consumption
increase in many outlets. On premise proprietors are also full of
praise about the excellent quality of the beer and the simplicity
of the dispenser's operation. Consumers are also responding
positively," says Peter van der Steenhoven.
The David Dispense System is an outstanding example of innovative
strength. Its principle is simple: the beer in the twenty-litre keg
is cooled on its entire route from the keg to the dispenser tap.
The outlet's proprietor first places the keg in a refrigerator.
Within eight to sixteen hours the beer has been cooled to the right
temperature. In the brewery a beer pipe has already been attached
to the full keg. The beer pipe consists of a connector point, a
beer supply line and a dispenser tap. It takes only a few seconds
for the owner of the outlet to feed the beer supply line through
the dispenser column, thanks to an ingenious guide system. Once
the beer line is in position, dispensing can start straight away.
When the keg is empty, the on premise owner removes the keg
including the beer pipe and sends the whole assembly back to the
brewery. This means that the beer never comes into contact with
the dispenser installation itself, which eliminates the need for the
regular cleaning that is needed in a conventional dispenser unit.
The old beer supply pipe is intended for one-time use and is
removed from the keg in the brewery and recycled. The keg is
cleaned, refilled, fitted with a new beer pipe and is then ready
for shipment to the next customer. No need for cleaning and
maintenance-free: these words are sweet music to the ears of the
on premise proprietor and that was precisely what the project
team was aiming for. For the outlet's owner an additional benefit
is that he no longer needs to worry about making sure that the
keg is empty in good time. David has meanwhile been further
perfected to such an extent that Heineken can guarantee the high
quality of the beer for a period of three weeks.
Right from day one in the development of the David Dispense
System the Heineken project team was enthusiastic about the
opportunities that the new system would offer. And that enthusiasm
has simply increased even further. The David Dispense System has
proved that it fills a gap in the market. On the basis of a relatively
low investment, sales of Heineken Beer in the on premise have
been boosted. Heineken, the on premise trade and the consumers
all benefit. David is what you could call a 'win-win-win situation'.
