David, the dispenser installation specially developed for outlets
that have a modest beer turnover but still want to offer draught
Heineken to their customers, is taking the world by storm. The
David dispenser system has already been installed in more than
twelve countries. Delivery of big numbers of these systems is
scheduled for the year ahead. David is quickly becoming Goliath.
Within Heineken packaging innovation is high on the agenda.
That applies to the off premise, but certainly to the on premise
sector as well. Hotels, restaurants and bars represent a profitable
business area for Heineken, but one that was hardly innovative
until recently. In the form of David, a major new step towards
consolidating the position in the on premise trade has been taken.
The David project was launched three-and-a-half years ago, the
dispenser has meanwhile been put on the market in more than
twelve countries, and customers are highly satisfied with it.
A brand-new machine is capable of producing seven million
David beer pipes per year. The machine, developed by the firm
of AAE in close collaboration with Heineken technicians, is an
outstanding example of high-quality technical ingenuity and
handles the assembly of the seven different components of the
beer supply pipe. AAE owner William Pijnenburg emphasises that
much attention is paid to quality control during the production
process. "All the manufacturing specifications of each separate
component are registered and seven quality control points have
been incorporated into the production process."
The development of the welding machine has removed a major
obstacle to the fast expansion of the David Dispense System.
