RUYS OPENS NEW OFFICE OF
HEINEKEN TAIWAN BRANCH
Heineken Taiwan, part of the
Heineken Export Group,
moved into new office
premises this April.
Until recently Heineken
Brouwerijen Taiwan Branch,
as the firm is officially
named, had its home in the
premises of Tait, the
Heineken distributor in
Taiwan.
During the official opening Heineken
was represented by the follow
ing people: Vice-chairman of the
Executive Board Anthony Ruys,
Corporate Marketing Director Rene
Hooft Graafland, Director Cluster
Asia Pacific Maarten Rijkens, Regional
Export Director Thieu Valens, Chief
Executive Officer of DB Breweries
Ltd. Jack van Herpen, and Steve
Davis, Vice President Marketing of
Heineken USA. Mr Ruys performed
the official opening ceremony by
cutting a ribbon.
The new office is on the fifteenth
floor of the Taipei Century Plaza, a
new office block in the downtown
commercial area of Taipei. The office
is only a stone's throw away from the
new office of Tait Drinks Department.
The Heineken Taiwan office covers a
floor area of 260 sq. m. and has space
for a maximum of 12 employees.
At the moment nine people work
there. Heineken Taiwan is headed by
Ed Weggemans. The furnishing of
the office was the work of interior
designer Jelain Goh. She was also
responsible for the decor in the
Heineken Export offices in Singapore,
Hong Kong and Beijing.
Heineken Taiwan was officially estab
lished on 11 November 1997 so as to
enable a better response to devel
opments in the local market. Those
developments have been fast and
furious for Heineken. Growth is
strong and this year more than
200,000 hectolitres of Heineken Beer
are expected to be shipped from the
Netherlands to Taiwan. Heineken
Taiwan is now the official importer of
Heineken Beer, which results in
favourable financial conditions. Tait
Marketing and Distribution Co.
will continue to handle Heineken.
Heineken Taiwan will support Tait in
the further development of the
Heineken brand in Taiwan.
