The world on show
in Seville
Heineken one of sub-sponsors of World Expo
The last World Exposition was
held as long as 22 years ago.
The Japanese city of Osaka
was then the venue. The next World
Expo, to be held in 1992, will be hosted
by the city of Seville in Southern Spain.
Heineken will be one of the main spon
sors of the Dutch contribution at the
world exhibition.
The Dutch pavilion will be
equipped with the 'desert cooling' sys
tem; the walls are covered on the inside
with sheets down which water flows.
This creates a natural cooling system -
essential in the Southern Spanish city
where summer temperatures can be
extremely high.
As to the way in which Heineken
1992 will be a memorable year for
the Spaniards. Apart from the World
Expo in Seville, Madrid will also bear
the title of Cultural Capital of Europe in
1992, whilst the Olympic Games will be
staged in and around Barcelona.
The event in Seville starts on 20th
April 1992. More than one hundred
pavilions, packed with displays of the
best that each country has to offer, will
then open their doors to an estimated
twenty million visitors. The architec
turally unusual pavilions will be the
meeting places for trade and industry,
recreation, art and culture.
will sponsor the Dutch contribution, no
exact details were known at the time
this issue went to press. Expectations
are that a Heineken pub will be built.
