WINTER, 1978
s is our custom, we pause during the
happy and busy Holiday Season to review
and report on the many happenings of the
eventful year that is now drawing to a close.
Of course, it is always a pleasure and a
source of pride to report, as we have for
some thirty years, of a substantial sales
increase during the past year. And for
1978, we proudly announce a tremendous
34% increase in Heineken depletions over
the prior year, continuing a record performance that is the envy
of the industry, and which again proves that Heineken is "Am
erica's #1 Imported Beer"—by far!
Such a record does not come automatically, but is the result
of hard work and the overcoming of many problems and
obstacles that arise during the year. Such problems ranged
from an east coast dock strike, to inventory and production
problems created by sales increases, to strikes at the distributor
level, and finally to massive fluctuations in foreign currency.
However, as the problems arose they were successfully dealt
with, and the end result is our fine 1978 sales record which
speaks for itself.
And so in the Holiday Spirit, I would like to express my
deep appreciation to the VMCO Sales and Office Staff, our
Wholesalers and Retailers—and of course to the Heineken
Brewery—for all their efforts in making 1978 such a successful
year. And to all our readers and their families may I extend
my best personal wishes for a very Merry Christmas and a
Happy and Healthy New Year.
Cordially yours
L. van Munching, President
