HEINEKEN PROMOTION AT MARRIOTT HOTELS
A successful Heineken promotion was held recently at many locations of the
Mariott Hotel chain throughout the U.S. The month-long promotion tied-in the
700th anniversary of the founding of the city of Amsterdam, Holland, and the
opening of the new 400-room Amsterdam Mariott Hotel, which is the first
Marriott location in Europe. Lobby displays and special Dutch menus were
featured in the Fairfield Inn restaurants of the U.S. hotels, and Dutch themes
were developed for their Windjammer Lounges. VMCO Sales Representatives,
in cooperation with the local VMCO distributors, arranged for Heineken dis
plays of well-received Heineken point-of-sale material at the participating hotels,
which helped create the color and excitement of Amsterdam and the warmth
of true Dutch hospitality. The successful promotion doubled the Heineken
business at some of the locations and increased the sale and introduction of
Heineken Special Dark Beer during the festivities at these fine hotels.

TEST PROVES HEINEKEN TASTES TREMENDOUS
The results of a taste-test were recently published by a new consumer publi
cation The National Star in an article called "The Supershopper". In the test,
seven of America's leading brands were sampled including Heineken Holland
Beer, Budweiser, Schlitz, Miller High Life, Pabst Blue Ribbon, Rheingold
Extra Dry and Carling Black Label. Each of the brands was ranked and awarded
one to four stars, with the four-star rating being the top classification. You might
guess that only one beer achieved top billing in a star performance and the top
rating of four stars. Winning critical acclaim for its rich, full-bodied and dis
tinctive taste was tremendous-tasting Heineken Holland Beer! As the recent
VMCO/Heineken radio advertising across the country has been saying in a
catchy little jingle "Heineken Tastes Tremendous No Wonder It's
Number One!".
With care and precision, Mr. John
Kessler of Hopkinton, Massachusetts
hand-decorated his upright piano with
a giant Heineken label in all the orig
inal colors. The two views in the above
photographs show the handsome final
result, which took quite a bit of time
and masterly effort to achieve.
Mr. Kessler is justly proud and
pleased with the outcome of his unique
undertaking, and hopes that we will
enjoy the pictures as much as he enjoys
our fine product. His project is cer
tainly a fine example of craftsmanship,
handsomely representing the most no
