ciation of Alcoholic Beverage Import
ers, malt beverage imports declined
3% during the eight month period
January through August '72 from the
same '71 period. However, imports
from the Netherlands increased during
the same period.
Of the three major exporting coun
tries, the Netherlands took first place
honors for the January-August period
with a total of 6,305,079 gallons, a
7.8% increase over '71 figures. West
Germany was second with 5,274,831
gallons, a 19% decrease from 1971.

SUPERMARKET INSTITUTE CONVENTION
The SMI Convention was held at the Astrohall in Houston, Texas during April of this year. VMCO was
represented in the well-attended Netherlands Chamber of Commerce booth. Visiting the booth were

NATIONAL RESTAURANT ASSOCIATION CONVENTION
The 53rd annual NRA Convention and Educational Exposition was held May 21-24 in Chicago. Attendance
at America's largest food-service and lodging show topped 80,000 for the second year in a row, with
845 exhibitors participating at the McCormick Place exposition hall. Manning the large and eye-catching
