Because of its high quality and special tenability under adverse conditions,
Heineken's Beer in cans was selected by the Belgian Antarctic Expedition
during 1960.
The photograph shows two members of this expedition enjoying a Belgian
dish of mussels. We have been told by the Brewery that Heineken's Beer
on this expedition was subject to extremely low temperatures. The members
of this exploration stated that the quality stood up against this extreme
condition very well.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Wilson of Millmount, Pa., asked our permission to name
their four-year-old brown gelding HEINEKEN.
When we asked for the reason for this unusual request, they expressed their
belief that the Heineken name stands for quality surpassed by few if
any, a worthy name for their beautiful horse.
HEINEKEN'S record at Roosevelt Raceway in New York this year has been
outstanding. He came in first seven consecutive times out of ten races, and
his record of 21/2 minutes, 5 seconds for 1 Vi miles is considered very good.
We hope that "our" horse will continue his winning streak also in the future.
Van Munching representatives are always first to take advantage of a given
situation. Here we see Ed Abdella, of our Southern Division, presenting a
bouquet to Miss Gita Kammon, Miss Holland of the 1961 Miss Universe
Pageant.
The Stamford House in Stamford, Conn., is a popular place for good food
and drink in "class" surroundings. As you can see by the photo above, it is
a place in the best of taste. If you look closely you will see two taps both
for Heineken's, a Heineken's Cash Register Sign and even a Heineken's "On
Tap" Button on the jacket of Bill Rolfe (left), the steward. To Mr. Rolfe's
right are Messrs. Bob Lohatsky (assistant steward) and Bill Deegan, Vat
Munching Company representative.
Regular patrons of the Stamford House have their own pewter mugs (com
plete with their names on them) which can be seen behind the bar.
