The Happy Heineken's Family on the West Coast ly: The Windmill PUBLISHED BY VAN MUNCHING CO., INC., 6 West 48th St., New York 36, N. Y. VOL. XI, No. 3 EDITOR: EDWARD W. RAMM APRIL, 1960 ^Jo Our ^Jlcippy THIS is the time of the year we like best. The feeling of spring is upon us and has taken the place of the cold and unpleas ant winter weather, with the blizzards and freezing temperatures which many of us ex perienced in March. We have an excellent headstart in sales after finishing our first quarter on March 1st, with an increase over the first quarter of 959 of about 40% which represented a very substantial number of Heineken's cases. With our advertising plans for this year which will commence this month and will undoubtedly have its full effect soon, we can look forward to a big second quarter in 1960. With this issue we have selected the Heine- ken's Distributor of the Month". The selec tion is based upon consistent cooperation by the distributor and our organization and the largest increase in percentage of Heineken's ales in his territory. I was very proud with the selection of BOENING BROS, of Rosedale, Long Island, New York, whose performance in the sale of Heineken's Beer has been most commendable. We hope to give you further selections at a later date. We enjoyed very much having as our visitor during the month of March, Jhr. O. Witter van Hoogland, Heineken's Managing Director in charge of export sales. After a short visit 'n New York and a visit to my home, he trav elled further West and spent the last week of his stay in California before embarking for Hawaii and the Far East. Before leaving the United States, Mr. Wit tert complimented us highly on what he also found in California, where we recently have introduced Heineken's Beer on draught and where we have added several large beer dis tributors to handle and service this part of our business. As for myself, I am slowly getting better -1all the time and spending several days a week with my staff in the New York office. I am grateful for all the support that you have given me during my recuperation With kindest regards and keep punching for van Munching! Cordially yours, The above group photo was taken on the occasion of the recent visit by Mr. O. Wittert van Hoogland, Heineken's Managing Director in charge of export sales, to Los Angeles, California, at the Van Munching Company's Beverly Hills offices. The picture shows, reading from left to right: Joseph Ross, Special Representative, Leo van Munching, Jr. from Chicago, Miss Pearl Fried- lander, Office Manager, Mr. O. Wittert van Hoogland, Bob Bristow, Special Draught Beer Representative, Gren C. Harris, Assistant to the Pacific Division Manager and James P. Garvey, Pacific Division Manager. Mr. Wittert's visit to the Pacific Division coincides with the initial distribution of Heineken's draught beer which has been received with great enthusiasm by our own wholesalers as well as the retail outlets.
