HEINEKEN'S SILVER ANNIVERSARY IN U.S.A.
OCTOBER, 1958
IT feels good to be back at my desk in
New York after a most exciting visit
to Holland where I celebrated my 25th
Anniversary for Heine ken's in America
and attended the official opening of the
new Brewery in 's Hertogenbosch it
You have read an article tuhich appeared
in the September issue of THE KNICK
ERBOCKER, published monthly by the
Netherland Publishing Company of New
York. What can 1 add to ivhat has already
been said?
Since our return to New Yorkrue have
participated in the largest and most suc
cessful National Beer Wholesalers Con
vention at the Commodore Hotel in New
York City. I took the occasion to invite
a group of representatives and our Divi
sion Managers to attend this Convention
nd also to be present at my Silver Anni-
versary Dinner Party at the Hotel Ast or
on Monday, October 13th. You will fnd
further details about this very wonderful
party in this issue.
The election of James P. Connelly to
Vice President of our company by our
Board of Directors was a very appropriate
one.
The decision to also establish a Van
M.unching Companies Ten Year Club for
our employees is another indication of the
importance that 1 place upon the happi-
nesr and'future-security of our employees.
After all, they do make the happy Heine-
ken's family" and I, for one, feel very
strongly that this spirit which prevails
throughout our organization reflects in the
constant groivth and volume sales of Hein-
eken's Beer in the United States.
Our ten month figure so far shows a
24V2% increase over 1957 and the two
remaining months certainly will bring us
sufficient volume so that we may wind up
our fiscal year with just about 25% in
crease over last year. That, in itself, is
the best possible gift that I could have re
ceived and enjoyed on my 25th anniversary
for the Heineken's Company in America!
So with your continued support during
November, this gift, no doubt, will be
-'to pass.
Cordially yours,
II
iliim
At the recently held Board of Directors meeting of our company, it was
proposed and unanimously adopted to elect Mr. James P. Connelly, Vice President
of our company. It was felt that this recognition of our Metropolitan New York
Sales Manager was richly deserved.
Mr. Connelly has been with Mr. van Munching in behalf of Heineken's in
the United States since 1936 when Austin, Nichols Co., Inc. assigned him
to the Heineken's Department, and has gone through the various stages of our
growth and development in the United States.
He lives in New York City and maintains a modest farm in Connecticut.
His wife, Stella, and his three children, Paul, Kenneth and Christine, make up
his very nice and happy family.
We wish Jim Connelly many years with our company as Vice President and
in charge of our most valuable market in the United States.
