dinner of the Half Moon Trophy Award Ceremony
On March 5, 1957 the Netherland Club
of New York made its annual award of
the Half Moon Trophy. The members of
the club took this occasion to present to
His Royal Highness Prince Bernhard of
The Netherlands, an honorary trophy in
recognition of his many services to the
Dutch people during his many visits to
the United States.
The Half Moon Trophy is the annual
award the Netherland Club bestows upon
the Netherlands immigrant who, through
his occupational efforts, has set an ex
ample of achievement for the contribu
tions of the Netherlands immigrant to the
American way of life.
The trophy is a hand carved sterling
silver replica of Henry Hudson's ship,
the Half Moon, in which he sailed up the
Hudson River.
This year's Half Moon Trophy was
awarded to Dr. Isidore Snapper for his
distinguished achievements in the field of
medicine.
