3 A-: WELCOME TO NEW FACES We salute the following newly ap pointed distributors and welcome them into the fold of our happy family: J Ljourmet L^orner .u,n„W.«4* BEERWICH For that late snack, "Beerwich" is pre pared similar to French toast with the ex ception that Heineken's Beer is substituted for the milk in the batter and frizzled ham and cheese is placed between the slices of toast. The "Beerwich" is made as follows: 2 eggs. Vs cup Heineken's, Yi teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce, 2 drops Tabasco Sauce, dash of salt and pepper, beat mixture. Frizzle ham (amount according to prefer ence) Dip two slices of bread in batter and fry lightly on one side and turn, Place two slices Swiss cheese or cheddar cheese and frizzled ham on one slice of toast. Spread mustard and place second slice over cheese. Continue frying, turning, until both sides of sandwich are nicely browned and crisp. Serve hoi with relishes and Hemeken s. BEERBURGER Mix 2 pounds of ground beef with 1 table spoon grated onion, 1 teaspoon salt, and Yi teaspoon pepper. Shape into six thick pat ties. Heat 2 tablespoons of fat in a large, heavy skillet and brown the patties on both sides. While they're browning, mix well the following sauceYi CUP each of Heineken s and catsup. 2 tablespoons each of vinegar, sugar, and Worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon salt and Ys teaspoon pepper. When the pat ties are brown, pour the sauce over them and simmer for ten minutes. When they're about ready for the table, slice French bread at an angle into thin oval pieces. Butter on one side and toast slightly. Place the 'burgers on the bread and ladle the remaining sauce over them. Serve six. Note: One point to remember in cooking with beer: it should be still, and not bubbling, when it is added to the other ingredients. The U. S. Brewers Foundation recommends that the beer should be opened fifteen min- uts before you are ready to cook with it. BEER PANCAKES Combine Vs cup of olive or vegetable oil, Vs cup of Heineken's, 2 eggs, well beaten, and 2 cups of milk. Sift 3 cups of flour with 4 teaspoons of baking powder, 1 teaspoon of salt, 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, and Ya teaspoon of nutmeg, and sift again. Then, under beating, slowly add to the liquid. Spoon batter in a hot griddle, and flop to the other side when the top shows bubbles. When cooked, the pancakes should be slightly crunchy around the edges, very tender in the center. Excellent served with smoked saus age, country bacon, maple syrup or a tart jelly, and plenty of butter. These pancakes are easy to prepare, easy to down, and repeat or ders are guaranteed. BEER CABBAGE SLAW Shred 1 medium-sized head of cabbage, and 1 green pepper. Add 2 tablespoons of celery seed, 1 teaspoon minced onion, 1 tea spoon salt and J4 teaspoon pepper. Thin 1 cup of mayonnaise with Yi CUP of Heine ken's and add to the cabbage. Toss thor oughly and chill in the refrigerator before serving. Excellent with ham or corned beef. Serves six.
