HEINEKEN'S "DUTCH MISS" OF
VOLUME 4, NUMBER 4
JULY 1952
ON June 26, 1952, our office was
able to announce that 21-year-
old Nan Miller of Brooklyn had
been selected "Dutch Miss" of 1952,
the most beautiful Dutch girl in
America.
Miss Miller's parents were born
in Amsterdam. Holland and immi
grated to the United States while
Nan, although born in Chicago, Illi
nois, presently resides in Brooklyn.
She is a veteran of two years before
the TV cameras and is currently seen
as a dancer on the weekly Lucky
Strike Hit Parade show.
Simmons Associates, our publicity
directors who conducted the "Dutch
Miss" contest, received some three
thousand applications for the title
and Miss Miller was finally selected
from 25 finalists and presented with
the awards that went with the title.
A special presentation party was
arranged in her honor on Thursday,
June 26th at the famous Toni's
Caprice Restaurant on 52nd Street
in New York City. A considerable
number of press representatives,
photographers and trade paper rep
resentatives in addition to the Neth
erlands Consul General, the Nether
lands Trade Commissioner and other
Dutch officials attended. It was the
concensus that the jury selecting the
1952 "Dutch Miss" had been a very
lucky one as Nan Miller not only
is a very attractive young lady but
she is very intelligent, talented and
so typically Dutch.
Her blonde tresses and fair com
plexion made her look the real Dutch
Miss she is. Her personal charm when
meeting official guests and the press
pleased everybody.

Since the party was given in the
late afternoon, as part of the present
ation ceremonies, a special highlight
for the many attending food writers
was the preparation of a full course
dinner consisting of special food re
cipes in which Heineken's Beer had
been used as a base. Some of these
recipes have been brought over from
Holland and had been in the Heine-
ken family for a great number of
years. Especially in Europe, beer has
had a widespread use in the prepara
tion of many dishes and Heineken's,
with its delightful taste, is particu
larly suitable for use in cooking. The
menu included the following:
Baked Smoked Salmon
Shrimps with Beer
Beer Soup
Fish in Heineken's
Potted Steak Zeeland
Roast Beef with Beer
Maytime Salad Bowl Beer Bread
Beer Spice Cakes Pancakes
The Windmill
