Review by region Asia Pacific In Kazakhstan our minority interest, Dinal, successfully introduced Tyan Shan beer onto the mar ket. In 2001 Dinal will expand production capacity to 300,000 hectolitres. In Australia the Heineken brand put in an excellent performance and the growth in sales ex ceeded those of the swiftly developing premium segment. We now have our own marketing and sales organization here. Sales of Heineken brewed by Brasserie de Tahiti on Tahiti stabilized following the increase in the preceding year. Sales in Japan were down somewhat on 1999 in a marginally declining beer market. Our sales concentrated on the international on-premise sector in the large cities, and here Heineken achiev ed an increase in sales volume. HEINEKEN N V. ANNUAL REPORT 2000 41
