In Japan, sales of Heineken beer again showed a sizable
growth. This was partly due to the further increase in the
marketing efforts. Heineken is responding energetically to the
altered distribution structure in that country.
Our brewery in New Caledonia and the production of
Heineken under licence in Tahiti developed satisfactorily.
Imports of Heineken beer into Asia again rose sharply.
Especially in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan there was
considerable growth. This positive trend was partly
attributable to the further strengthening of our sales
organization.
In Israel, sales of imported Heineken beer rose further in
1995. Our licensing partner Tempo Beer Industries launched
locally produced Amstel beer.
In most other countries in the Middle East there was a more
or less stable pattern of sales.
