Chad The annual capacity of Brasseries du Logone S.A., of Moundou, increased to nearly 100,000 hectolitres as a result of an extension of the tank cellar and the commissioning of a second bottling line. This entire capacity had to be utilized during the year under review in order to meet the demand. Egypt On March 21, 1972, the intergovernmental agreement regarding compensation for nationalized Netherlands interests in Egypt came into effect. It is to be expected that the implementation of this agreement will now soon proceed. Madagascar Sales of Amstel beer produced by Brasseries de Madagascar S.A. have remained below expectations. This has led to an adjustment of the commercial organization. South Africa Sales of Amstel beer brewed under licence by The South African Breweries Ltd. have grown satisfactorily. Zaire The brewery group Brasseries, Limonaderies et Malteries du Zaïre 'Bralima' S.A.R.L. comprises five breweries which are located at Kinshasa, Boma, Kisangani, Bukavu and Mbandaka. The brewery at Mbandaka was completed in September 1972. Sales of beer and lemonade have risen considerably during the past financial year. The brewery at Kinshasa has now reached an annual output of more than 1 million hectolitres of beer. As a result of the increasing demand for the products of the enterprise, work has started on a substantial programme of capital expenditure. The growing demand for beer enabled the bottle factory Bouteillerie de Kinshasa 'Boukin' S.A.R.L., of Kinshasa, which operates for the whole brewing industry in Zaire, to show a considerable rise in turnover once again this year. Sizeable invest ments will be necessary in the years ahead in order to continue to meet the demand. Congo-Brazzaville The sales of Brasserie de Brazzaville S.A., of Brazzaville, showed a substantial increase. The market share has been enlarged. 19
