The difference between Heineken and many other
companies is that we produce locally for the local markets
in many countries. Thus, many countries benefit from our
operations, our investments, the production of local raw
materials, our training and educational efforts; the value
chain that is connected with our industry. I feel that as an
integral part of the society of our host countries, we have
at least the moral obligation to enhance the positive
impact of our presence and reduce as much as possible
any real or potential negative impacts. Only this way of
pursuing sustainability will result in mutual benefit for the
local communities and for us.
