Heineken uses electricity mainly for refrigeration, waste-water treatment, compressed
air production, carbon dioxide recovery and liquefaction, powering production, office
equipment and lighting.
Specific electricity consumption by Heineken's breweries has remained more or
less constant in the past two years, at 10.7 kWh per hi of beer in 2000 compared with
10.6 kWh in 2001. Savings can often be made when old equipment is replaced.
