In seven well-known ski resorts in
the North of Italy ski-ing contests
were held this past winter for the
Heineken Beer Trophy. In Cortina,
Cervinia and Madonna di Campiglio
thousands of ski enthusiasts gathered
to compete or to cheer on the
contestants. Skiers of all categories
competed for attractive Heineken
prizes. Basically, the contests are open
to everyone who feels at home on skis.
Dreher, our brewery in Italy, has been
sponsoring this sport for some years
now. In the seven winter sports resorts
the contests for the Heineken Beer
Trophy have meanwhile become a
tradition. Dreher's Ivano Giop,
together with the local ski clubs,
ensures that the contests are smoothly
organised.
Dreher concentrates its sponsoring
activities on an limited number of
sports. The most important of these is
the Heineken Beer Trophy. A tip for
ski-ing fans: you may have time to
watch the action during the last contest
to be held on 13th April in Cervinia.

Since November last year Amstel beer has been available on the market in
Cameroun (Africa). The beer is produced in our "International
Brasserie" brewing company in that country and is marketed in a 33-cl.
returnable bottle. With its population of 9.5 million people and a per
capita consumption of some 50 litres, Cameroun represents a major beer
market on the African Continent.
Over a year ago International Brasserie had already introduced Mützig
beer, which proved a great success. The brewery's range has now been
extended by the launch of Amstel beer, an introduction that links up with
that country's growing thirst for international beer brands. Much
attention has been devoted to supporting the premium image of Amstel
beer. This has included a new jingle developed for cinema and film use
with the slogan: Amstel - plaisier raffiné, plaisier partagé.'
Relais et Chateaux, an
organisation whose members
are some 350 very exclusive
hotels and restaurants throughout the
world, held its annual congress in
Holland last November. Over 250
people attended. They vvere the guests
of the nine Dutch members. These top
specialists of the catering world were of
course offered a programme in which

culinary aspects took pride of place.
The Heineken Brewery in Amsterdam
also hosted a Dutch Evening for the
congress participants during their stay.
The brewery's reception areas were
given a special festive tint for this
occasion. Upon their arrival the ladies
were presented with a lace cap and the
gentleman with a red kerchief. All the
nationalities present were decked out
with these familiar symbols of Dutch
folklore. A number of traditional
craftsmen could be seen at work,
backed by the sounds of a barrel-organ
and an oompah band. And a top
selection of Dutch specialities was
served, such as mussels, cheese,
oysters.and of course Heineken
beer.
